Parking on Streets/Snow Removal

Please make every effort to comply with our City Ordinances in regards to parking on the streets and removal of snow from your property.

  • Snow and ice must be removed from sidewalks within 48 hours of snowfall
  • Snow cannot be pushed onto the streets
  • No parking on streets between 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. daily

Ordinance 84: "It shall be unlawful for any person to park or stand any motor vehicle upon the public streets of the city between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m."

Ordinance 94: "It shall be the duty of the owner or occupant of every parcel of real estate within the city which adjoins a public right-of-way upon which there has been constructed a public sidewalk, to remove any accumulation of ice and snow which obstruct the free use of the sidewalk by pedestrians, within 48 hours after the accumulation of such snow or ice"

Violations can result in property owner fines.

If you have a special need to park on the street, you can visit the Chelsea Police Department at 311 S. Main Street at any time to obtain a temporary permit.
