The City of Chelsea does not have a formal, public transit system however, the Western Washtenaw Area Value Express (WAVE) operates within the City. WAVE is a non-profit service that exists to provide affordable transportation to older adults, persons with disabilities and other transit dependent individuals in western Washtenaw County. WAVE operates independently of the City of Chelsea however, the City does provide it limited funding annually as a contracted service. The Ann Arbor Transit Authority (AATA) continues to offer an express service between Chelsea and Ann Arbor. This service is referred to as the a2Chelsea Express and is provided by Indian Trials, Inc. under contract to AATA. The route and timetable can be found at http://www.theride.org/A2Express.asp .
Service operates Monday – Friday ONLY, and does not operate on holidays. In Chelsea, the only bus stop is at the Arctic Coliseum (501 Coliseum Drive). Free parking is available. The pick up location will be the front lobby, which will be open. Bearclaw Coffee and other goodies will be available for purchase inside. The service stops in four locations in Ann Arbor including City Hall, UM Central Campus, and the UM Medical Center.
