Voter Registration

You can complete a voter registration form at any time. Voter Registration forms can be mailed to the City Offices, dropped in the after hours drop box, or delivered in person during normal City Office business hours. To vote in Chelsea, you must live within the City limits and be registered to vote in the district at least thirty days prior to the next election. You can also complete the registration process at any Michigan Secretary of State office.  Registered City of Chelsea residents vote at the Washington Street Education Center, 500 Washington Street.


Election Information - Next Election is Tuesday, November 7, 2017

Registered City of Chelsea residents vote at the Washington Street Education Center, 500 Washington St.  Absentee Ballot Applications cannot be submitted more than 75 days prior to an election.  The City will hold a General Election on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 for the purposes of nominating candidates for the following offices:
  • (1) Mayor - 4 year term
  • (3) Council Members - 4 year term 

Candidates must file an Affidavit of Identity and Nominating Petitions by 4:00 pm, July 25, 2017.  Nominating Petitions must contain at least 15 valid signatures from registered electors of the City.


You must be registered to vote by October 10, 2017 to vote in the November 7, 2017 election.   Click here for the Precinct Dividing Map to determine if you are in Precinct 1 or 2.
